Chris joined Northumbrian Roads in 1989 having left school in 1987. He quickly gained experience working with the surfacing gangs and his enthusiasm and ability to operate most items of plant led him to become foreman in 1992. He qualified to the advanced level of City and Guilds Highway maintenance course and successfully ran his own surfacing reinstatement team for 5 years before becoming involved in general surfacing projects at management level.
His particular interest in mechanical plant gave him a very much “hands on” approach to the company’s activities.
He became a company director in 2001 and has more recently been involved in the running of his own haulage company.
Today Chris is involved in the day to day planning of all the company’s operational activities. He works with his team of management to ensure that contracts are delivered safely and efficiently.
Chris is a member of the Institute of Asphalt Technology and is well known in the regional surfacing industry.
