Happy Birthday Northumbrian Roads ! (20 years)
20th January 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the date of incorporation of Northumbrian Roads Limited.
The company was founded by the late John Lynch in 1989 who, together with his longstanding colleague George Barton, began the establishment of a new player in the already competitive road surfacing market in the North East.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Today the company continues with members of both families involved in key positions in the running of the company, which has seen it grow from humble beginnings into a company with 54 employees and a turnover of circa. £10 million.
There are still a handful of people who started with the business 20 years ago and many more who have been with the company at least 15 of those years.
Northumbrian Roads have won one of the prestigious ROSPA awards for 2007.
The GOLD award will be presented at a special ceremony later in the year.
David Rawlins, ROSPA awards manager said “ Northumbrian Roads have demonstrated how seriously they take Health and Safety management and are a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more companies follow their lead”
This is the second time the company has won the gold award, the first time being in 2001.
